  1. 0) login as root (su or sudo -s)
  2. 1) After a Debian fresh install you should install those package:

  4. apt-get install autoconf automake autotools-dev build-essential bison bzip2 curl git libreadline5 libsqlite3-0 sqlite3 libsqlite3-dev libxml2-dev libmysqlclient-dev libreadline5-dev libruby openssl libssl-dev zlib1g zlib1g-dev zlibc vim

  7. 2) Install rvm
  8. bash < <(curl -BL https://rvm.beginrescueend.com/install/rvm)

  10. 3) Add to /etc/profile and /root/.bashrc this script

  13.   . "$HOME/.rvm/scripts/rvm"
  14. elif [ -s "/usr/local/rvm/scripts/rvm" ] ; then
  15.   . "/usr/local/rvm/scripts/rvm"

  18. 4) If the file /etv/rvmrc doesn't exists create it and add this content
  19. umask g+w
  20. export rvm_path="/usr/local/rvm"

  22. 5) Install ruby with rvm
  23. rvm install ruby-1.9.2
  24. rvm use default ruby-1.9.2
  25.  
  26. 6) Install rubygems
  27. - Downlaod Rubygems from rubyforge.org
  28.   curl http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/75173/rubygems-1.8.6.tgz > rubygems-1.8.6.tgz
  29. - Uncompress it
  30.   tar xzf rubygems-1.8.6.tgz
  31. - Install
  32.   cd rubygems-1.8.6
  33.   ruby setup.rb
